Our midwifery care services include the provision of complete prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care for childbearing families. Clients are accepted into care during pregnancy, and are supported until 6-8 weeks postpartum. The intention of Malachite Midwives is to empower parents in the Kelowna area to become conscientious care providers for their families. Our team strives to exemplify a model for individual, community, and environmental wellness.

Malachite has been called “the midwife stone”, as it resonates with the female reproductive organs. It is believed to alleviate cramps and facilitate childbirth by lessening labour pains.
In the middle ages, Malachite was sometimes attached to the side of an infant’s cradle to ward off evil spirits and allow the baby to sleep more soundly.
Malachite is known as a stone of transformation, used to guide us through times of transition and growth.
In a variety of times and cultures, Malachite has been considered a gemstone of women and has been dedicated to Egyptian, Roman and Norse Goddesses.
